Once upon a time I buried a canned disclosure policy somewhere in the depths of my blog. I’ve been around the blog-block long enough to know that the FTC requires blogs that offer promos/product reviews/any post for compensation to have one of these. Here is my attempt to comply with the FTC to the best of my humble ability. And, lo, my ability is humble.
I haven’t always run a review blog. In fact, I never really wanted to at first. I still don’t like combining reviews on my main blog, Half-Pint House, so when I got more opportunities, I began Half-Pint House Handouts. I now run a review/giveaway blog.
I like reviewing products on this blog. I also accept a handful of carefully screened paid text links or the seriously occasional paid post opportunity. Why? Because being a stay-at-home mom doesn’t pay any bills. Also, sending Craig to seminary wasn’t free and our student loan payback has officially kicked in. Books, supplies, uniforms, and extra-curricular activities for four kids aren’t free. Nor are they cheap. Not at all. Have I mentioned I’m a stay-at-home mom?
I enjoy writing and will continue to put thoughtful and sometimes just-for-fun posts on my main blog MOST OF THE TIME. I will keep MOST of my reviews and giveaways on my review blog. If you aren’t into giveaways and reviews, I’d like to suggest you avoid HPH Handouts and instead just stick around Half-Pint House Plain. I may pop up a sponsored post over at my main blog every once in a while, but over there it’s the exception, not the norm. I utilize affiliate links and the occasional sponsored text link from time to time as well.
Are we clear there? Good.
There could very well be a time I recommend something here that ends up being something I’m sorry I recommended. Please know I didn’t do it on purpose and that when I posted about said thing I had had a previously good experience with it and it only showed its true colors afterwards. I’m not perfect. Ahem.
I send out plenty of links to things I don’t get paid for because I really like those things and want to give them a shout-out here. I hope you trust me with that and don’t think I’m blog-loving things just so I can get some kind of compensation for it.
I also have a shop of handmade items that I link to quite a bit on here. It’s because I’m free advertising for myself.
I’m fairly “PR Friendly” but I don’t bend over backwards for anything and everything that comes my way. If I’m offered something cool or unique that seems like it could benefit my family or someone I know, I will most likely agree to move foward with it.
I am a Christian and I see the world through the lens of a Christian worldview. This doesn’t mean I only work with “Christian” companies or endorse products with Bible verses printed on them. I have yet to see a coffee mug actually accept Jesus into its heart. I don’t believe things to be Christian. Only people. Full disclosure here. That’s all.
In keeping with the idea of full disclosure, I also had four epidurals. Okay, I really only had three, but I WANTED four. That’s a story for another day.
I’ve been thinking about losing 15 pounds for about five years.
There could very well be something I’m missing here in this disclosure statement, but I didn’t leave it out on purpose. I’m trying to be as forthright as I can.
You wanna see my media kit? Yep, I put one together. Email me at halfpinthouse at gmail dot com and I’ll shoot it your way.
There you go. That’s my proper disclosure statement. Happy?
