Have you heard of The Gruffalo by Julie Donaldson? We were first introduced to this delightful tale in a children’s literature class I took at seminary a couple of years ago. It has quickly become a family favorite.
When I was asked if we wanted to review it, I replied in a hurry: Yes, please! I was excited to see the adaptation because we love the story so much, but I was concerned about the dumbing down of children’s stories that sometimes happens when they are made into cartoons.
I need not have worried. Narrated by Helena Bonham Carter, The Gruffalo on DVD is a classic and I am thrilled we have it in our collection. My kids have watched it several times and enjoy it more and more each time.
The graphics are sweet and the story is told in a way that makes you wish it was much longer than 40 minutes. In short, I love, love, LOVE this DVD!
Watch a clip of it now:
It releases on August 16 and would make a terrific gift. If we didn’t already have it, I would definitely buy it for a family Christmas gift.
I’m thrilled to be able to offer one of you your very own copy.
