Y’all, I found Rain for Roots quite by accident. Okay, it’s probably not an accident if I’m already following two of the singers around the internet like a puppy. I’m bound to find out about their new stuff on Facebook that way, right? Well, it happened.
Here’s another piece of awesome: For those of you who have been with me here for a LONG time, I wrote about The Jesus Storybook Bible from the very get-go of that too. And then I wrote about it again. And again.
What does the latter have to do with the former? EVERYTHING. Sandra McCracken, Ellie Holcomb, Flo Paris, and Katy Bowser have partnered with Sally Lloyd Jones to bring us Rain for Roots: A Collection of 10 New Folk Songs about Classic Bible Stories for Young Children.
It’s both artistically beautiful and theologically sound. This. Is. Awesome.
I just found this video on YouTube of “God Made Everything” featuring the singers’ very own munchkins. Cute!
I think that’s one of the things I love the most about this project. It’s a project for young kids written by mamas of young kids. Look at this sweet group family photo:
Here’s the official buzz about the whole project:
Rain For Roots is a collective of songwriters, young mothers and friends who came together around a single vision to make new scripture songs for children. Inspired by traditional folk melodies, this band of four set out to make new, timeless songs about the old gospel Story.
This album, “Big Stories for Little Ones” is based on the poems of best-selling children’s author, Sally Lloyd-Jones.
The FULL ALBUM download includes a FREE digital booklet with lyrics and simple chords to strum along with the music.
The entire album consists of ten songs. You can download God Makes Everything right here for free:
