Celebrating National Creamsicle Day with TCBY Frozen Yogurt

When I was a kid I would often find orange creamsicles in our freezer in the summer. What a yummy, cool treat to have on hand. My parents loved them and I learned to love them too! Fast forward MANY years. I’m no longer a kid and I haven’t had creamsicles in a very long time. I don’t think my parents have either. Speaking of my parents, because my mom was diagnosed earlier this summer with Lou Gehrig’s disease, I’ve decided to make the trip to their house every couple of weeks to put some prepared meals in their freezer. My dad is a great care giver for my mom, but he could use a little help in the kitchen. I also thought it would be fun to surprise them with some of the new TCBY Frozen Yogurt Orange & Vanilla Novelty Bars as a nod back toward our orange creamsicle loving days of yonder and in honor of National Creamsicle Day which was officially on August 14.

The day before my trip home (my parents live two hours away), I prepared a handful of meals. This Crock-Pot Ranch Roast Sandwich filling is always a hit.

Then three of my girls and I loaded up and headed east with our cooler-o-food (and list of detailed instructions for my dad).

Two hours later we stopped at the Walmart in Owasso for a few extra supplies and to get the TCBY Orange & Vanilla bars. We also snagged some of the strawberry swirl one while we were there! As an aside, the Orange & Vanilla bars are only 110 calories each. Nice!

You can see catch a glimpse of our entire day, Walmart trip included, in this Google + photo album.

As you can see, these low-calorie treats were a hit, from young to old(er)!

My mom commented on how they tasted exactly like she remembered. I agreed and said they also reminded me of orange push-up treats we used to get from the ice cream truck that came down our street. We decided to leave the extra treats there with my parents so they could enjoy them, but we’re definitely going to be picking up some more of these here in Oklahoma City! Y.U.M. And since I’ve been on a diet since early June and will continue to be on one for a very long time, these are a treat I can have and feel good about. Yay!

Y’all, these are seriously good. I can definitely see myself purchasing these for classroom and party treats in the future. What a win all the way around! Thanks, #TCBYGrocery, for making such a yummy and low-calorie option available!
