American Girl Doll: Caroline {Giveaway!!}

I’m just going to say it: I about fell out of my chair when I was offered the chance to both review AND offer a giveaway of Caroline the newest doll in the historical line of American Girl dolls. And here’s the other thing I’m going to say: I can’t decide whether to give this beauty to Katie or Millie for Christmas. Neither of them knows she has arrived at our house yet. Maddie and Chloe both know and are pretty pumped about it. And I’m sort of tempted to just keep her for myself… but I won’t. She’s going to make a super AWESOME Christmas gift for one of those girlies. Now then…WHO?

Here are all the specific details about this beautiful historical doll:

Caroline is from 1812. “As the War of 1812 begins, so does the story of Caroline Abbott’s bravery. She loves sailing with her father, but when he’s captured, Caroline must help keep the family’s shipyard running. When she sees a chance to rescue her father, Caroline discovers that she must use her mind and heart to guide her decisions.”

She comes with:

A soft pink empire-waist dress with a woven floral sash and ruffle trim, details common in her era
Lacy pantalettes and ribbed-knit stockings to keep her proper
Pink shoes to match

And…she’s just beautiful. It’s fun for even this 38yo mama to open one of these red boxes!

And please excuse the dark photos. A mama-on-the-the-sly has to take pictures of such an awesome Christmas gift after the kids have gone to bed. Ahem.

And she comes with the first book about her life in 1812 as you can see in the photo just above! Also, you might notice that her hair is secured in a safety net for tangle-free transporting. Pretty smart.

Okay, this cutie is pretty dark in this photo, but you can see her sweet curls after I took the safety netting off. And her little pink dress has such sweet details.

The Caroline doll and book set sells for $105 from the American Girl website. She was the winner of the 2012 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award as well as the winner of a 2012 Mom’s Choice Gold Award for 8+ and I KNOW she will be a winner in your house too.
